Description

Overview

The chamois shirt is a workwear legend, made famous by American brands of decades past. The name “chamois” comes from the leather of the same name, a soft and suede-like leather from mountainous goats in Europe. The handfeel was so desirable that fabric-makers began to replicate it in a heavy-yet-soft brushed cotton.

To make our version, we found a vintage 70’s-era version and replicated the weight and handfeel with our mill in Portugal. At a beefy 9 oz. brushed cotton that will soften over time, you can wear it as an overshirt (consider creating a more generously-sized Blueprint) or all on it’s own.

The Evergreen Chamois color is created with a vibrant green yarn on the warp and a dark navy on the weft. Resulting in a rich jewel toned Evergreen color perfect for winter months and the holidays. Pair it with every color chino in your closet or dress it up with a pair of charcoal flannel trousers for your next holiday party.

It’s has a nice texture, is thick and a bit stiff at first but soft and drapes well after washing. Color is a beautiful dark forest green. Rating four stars because there was a slight discoloration in the fabric first time and ratio had to remake the shirt because of it.

Really looking forward to wearing this more as the weather gets a bit colder. Love how heavy this is! I will often throw it on over top of another button up.

Best chamois shirt fabric I've ever seen. Extremely soft and lovely warm, feels like wrapping up in a favorite blanket. Very neutral greenish-gray color. Caution about the fit though, shirts in this fabric are cut on the large side anticipating shrinkage but it might not shrink enough (mine needed to be recut). If this fabric was available in rich dark jewel tones I'd probably fill my closet with them.
